ABOUT US

Our History

NWPC LA Metro is your local caucus of the National Women's Political Caucus (established 1971).

Following the failure of the ERA, NWPC's founders - including Gloria Steinem, Bella Abzug, and Shirley Chisholm - realized there would never be equality under the law until women were equally represented in legislative chambers, making the laws.

The early days of NWPC are beautifully dramatized in Dahvi Waller's "Mrs. America."

Watch our conversation with Dahvi by becoming a Member of NWPC LA Metro today!

At NWPC LA Metro, we fight to elect pro-choice, pro-ERA women to all levels of government. We actively recruit women all across our region to run for office - and then we help prepare them to run, and work to elect them when they do.

THE NWPC LA METRO REGION

Our boundaries run from Hollywood and Eagle Rock, in the north, to Long Beach in the south. We stretch as far west as Lynwood and South Gate, and as far east as La Mirada and Whittier. Our Membership, Leadership, and Candidates represent a major portion of LA County. Click here to see a full list of caucus communities.
